5s Football
Intramural 5s football is all about close-knit teams, spending lots of time on-ball, and a healthy dose of competition.
Unfortunately we are not running our Mens 5 a-side league for the 2024/25 season while we explore new avenues within our Intramural Sport offer, meaning we do not have the facility space available. We apologise if this is disspointing news to any of you, but heavily encourage that you explore our other offers, such as our Mens 7 a-side / 11 a-side league and or Futsal programme as an alternative.

Weekly 5s leagues
Each player requires a MINIMUM of the SPORT membership to gain entry to the Centre and play in the League
Where and when
League teams can register for either the Tuesday 17.00-18.30 or Tuesday 18.30-20.00 league.
All games are played indoors at Newcastle University Sport & Fitness Centre in Sports Hall 2.
League format
16 teams take part in two divisions of eight every Tuesday evening.
Fixtures are 40 minutes long. Teams play each other once, with a minimum of seven games per team. Once all the league fixtures have been played, the top four teams from each division qualify for the knockout play-offs.
All games are assigned Northumberland FA qualified referees with each team required to pay a weekly £6 referee.
At the end of each term, the winning team comes away with a shiny crystal trophy, medals and a voucher for the team. As well as a place in Intramural history.
Leagues reset at the beginning of each term.
