Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The School commits to providing an inclusive working environment where staff and students are treated with dignity and respect.

Working to address equality issues

Recent global events have highlighted that there is still a long way to go towards equality for all. There are many factors that can prevent an individual achieving their goals. Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee is composed of individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds working proactively to address inequality and to provide support.

Recent actions

Recent actions from our EDI Committee include:

  • all school unconscious bias facilitated workshop
  • examining our National Student Survey (NSS) feedback, teaching and course content
  • broadening the diversity of in our clinical teaching material
  • reviewing our staff diversity
  • reflection on our current support for students from different enrolment pathways

Student involvement in EDI within the School of Pharmacy

Students are vital in identifying areas for improvement in the School and curriculum. Importantly our School EDI committee includes representatives from the student body to provide vital input from their perspective.

Silver Athena Swan award

We contributed to the Faculty of Medical Sciences being awarded Faculty  Silver Athena Swanstatus.

This recognises our progress towards gender equality. It demonstrates the University has a solid foundation for eliminating gender bias.
