What type of experiences are available?

We know that everyone is different and what’s right for one person, might not be a good ‘fit’ for someone else. That’s why we offer a broad range of Global Opportunities approved, short-term summer placements.

We work with our university partners and trusted external organisations to provide experiences including:

Type of placement What's included
Summer schools

Improve our language learning, gain a new perspective on your academic area of study, or choose to do something totally different at a summer school with one of our partner universities.

Internships and short-term work experience Build your CV in a sector that aligns with your career aspirations and interests while building your professional networks with one of our external partners
Volunteering

Do something that changes lives and communities and help make a positive difference through our volunteering opportunities with one of our external partners

Online experiential learning Its not always possible to travel during your studies, so we offer a range of virtual experiences. This is a great way to incorporate a global opportunity into your degree without leaving Newcastle!

Supporting you

We know that the decision to undertake a global experience is an important one, especially if you haven’t lived abroad before. We encourage you to do your research before you apply to ensure that the opportunity is a good fit for you. Consider your personal circumstances, lifestyle, budget and expected learning outcomes.
