MSc Clinical Science

Our Masters in Clinical Science is available to the healthcare science workforce and through competitive national recruitment via the NHS Scientist Training Programme (STP).

 

The NHS Scientist Training Programme is a postgraduate training scheme that leads to qualification as a Clinical Scientist and is ideal for life science graduates with an interest in applying their scientific knowledge in a healthcare setting.

We provide two pathways within our MSc Clinical Science programme:-

Medical Physics with specialisms in:

• Radiotherapy Physics
• Nuclear Medicine
• Radiation Safety and Diagnostic Radiology
• Imaging with Non-ionising Radiation

 

Physiological Science with specialisms in:

• Cardiac Science
• Vascular Science
• Gastrointestinal Physiology
• Urodynamic Science

 

This accredited programme is led by Clinical Scientists and taught by a range of specialist staff from the Healthcare Science, Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Professional workforce.  Teaching activities occur in both Newcastle University and Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

 

Individual modules are also accessible to health service based staff wishing to enhance their current knowledge and skills via Continuing Professional Development (CPD) routes.
