Our work supports evidence-based innovation in learning and teaching. It shapes the training and practice of the modern healthcare workforce.
Our Research Strategy is delivered in partnership with both the education research theme and Graduate School.

Developing a New Generation of Educational Researchers
We're passionate about developing education, training, and careers in research.
We offer high-quality research opportunities to undergraduate medical, healthcare, and medical sciences students. As well as those pursuing postgraduate taught and postgraduate research degrees.
We also host the NIHR Incubator for Clinical Education. This network supports the career development of talented clinicians with interests in educational research.

Research Ethics
All research studies must have appropriate ethical review. Details of University processes are described here: https://www.ncl.ac.uk/research/researchgovernance/ethics/
Research within the School of Medicine is subject to review by the Faculty of Medical Sciences Research Ethics Committee. Applications for ethical review should be submitted through the online form available here: https://www.ncl.ac.uk/research/researchgovernance/ethics/process/
Some studies may be subject to NHS review and registration. Details are available at https://www.ncl.ac.uk/research/researchgovernance/ethics/. If you are conducting research within a Trust of other NHS organisation, you should speak to your Research and Development department.
