Introduction
I joined Newcastle University in 2009 after working for 10 years as a physiotherapist in the NHS specialising in musculoskeletal out-patients, cardiac rehabilitation and weight management.
I have now been working as a senior research physiotherapist/clinical academic for over 8 years and during this time have successfully completed a PhD in physical activity, exercise, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This work has led to the development of a clinical role in the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals' NAFLD clinics focussing on incorporating lifestyle interventions into patient care.
I have been awarded a 5 year NIHR/HEE Clinical Lectureship to continue my work on how best to translate the evidence for physical activity/exercise into clinical care in NAFLD.

My research programme focuses on lifestyle interventions in liver disease and diabetes.
My NIHR Lectureship funding is to focus on developing the first evidence based lifestyle service pathway for people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
