Background

I am currently a Clinical Trial Administrator, within my role I support Newcastle Clinical Trials Unit in overseeing several clinical trials (currently ENHANCE-D and HAPLO4Kids). 


This includes, but is not limited to set up of clinical trials for multiple sites, data entry/management, facilitating study specific training and working closely with the trial managers and data managers to enable the efficient and effective delivery of trials.

I have worked in a variety of professional and administrative support within the Faculty of Medical Sciences ranging from meeting coordination, minute taking, financial management, to estates and conference coordination.

Currently studying for the Associate Project Manager qualification through the Apprenticeship Scheme with Derwentside College and the support of the university.


I have worked with the Stroke Research Group, providing project support for the Treatment of Poor-grade Subarachnoid Haemorrhage Trial 2 (TOPSAT2), STABILISE, RATULS, PASTA and PEARS2 Clinical trials and research projects, along with general administration which involved managing the group's finances (monitoring budgets, reporting and purchasing), estates and IT matters, providing advice and assistance to other members of the team on anything from University recruitment processes, annual leave). 


I also provided PA support to Prof Helen Rodgers, Emerita Clinical Professor of Stroke Care prior to her retirement and Professor Phil White, Professor of Neuroradiology.


I started working at Newcastle University in April 2008, in the School of Marine Science & Technology (MaST). 

I held several roles in MaST during my 8 years with the school. Initially employed as the Singapore programme secretary when the campus in Singapore was launched and opened in Sept 2008, progressing to the undergraduate Marine Technology programmes secretary, covering all the UG programmes in the UK and Singapore.


This role involved student recruitment from application through to graduation, including all the programme management for exams, coursework, the Overseas Immersion Programme (Held annually in the summer between first and second year when the students came to the UK from Singapore). 


As the campus expanded to additional schools within the SaGE Faculty I was responsible for the training of staff in the additional schools on the processes in place. When NUIS was founded in 2009 I was the company's finance officer for the first 18 months of business, working with staff in Singapore from the UK.


My last role within MaST was School Resources Assistant, which involved all the estates and finance related work:

Office space refurbishments, allocation of desk space to new staff and PhD students, purchasing card transactions, travel & expenses, WIC/WIA invoice coding, including financial reporting. Human Reources activities inclucidnassisting with recruitment and selection processes, IT support, telephones and printers for the school.
