Project description
I am carrying out various analyses for TSHDs over 12000m3:
- structural strength and fatigue analysis
- plastic deformation analysis under extreme sea conditions
These analyses will provide maximum deformation values of various important frame positions. These include dredging pump room, engine room, auxiliary equipment room, and so on.
I am analysing the influence of deformable frame positions. I am calculating the influence of vibration of eccentric shaft systems, such as the:
- dredging pump shaft system
- main engine shaft system
- jet pump shaft system
I am analysing the existing defects of modern large TSHDs and finding the root causes of problems. I am exploring how to solve or avoid such defects at the early design stage and after completion of ship construction.
Methodology and objectives
I am calculating the natural characteristic of total vibration using the energy, transfer matrix, and finite element methods.
I am calculating the ship hull forced vibration response. The mass of hull vibration consists of effective mass and added mass
Result
Dredging companies could benefit from the results of the research. I will provide a copy of the report to the specific organisation. I also hope to publish a paper in a learned journal to disseminate the results of the research.
