Staff Profile

As one of only two specialist scientific glassblowers at Newcastle University I use a unique blend of artistic creativity and technical expertise to manufacture a range of bespoke scientific glassware for teaching and research. With over 14 years of experience, I specialise in crafting precision glass apparatus that serve both functional and aesthetic purposes in various scientific fields. The glassblowing workshop is there to provide a service to everyone in the university as well as external companies. My journey so far has taken me from trainee to senior glassblower, where I have had the opportunity to create bespoke vacuum systems, distillation equipment and stock glass repairs. As well as creating artist pieces and teaching glassblowing techniques to both colleague and students at the University.
