Staff Profile
Matteo Fella
Research Assistant
Research Associate in the School of Engineering working on the scale up of a novel chemical looping process for low carbon hydrogen production.
Graduated from Newcastle University receiving MEng Honours in Chemical Engineering. Final year research project on the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide into organic compounds using different electro catalysts for emissions reduction.
Completed an internship at AkzoNobel funded by Newcastle University for the development of flexible materials with energy harnessing properties for future implementation in the paints and coatings industry.
2 years working in industry for Thomas Swan as a junior process engineer. Processing the manufacture of speciality and performance chemicals.
My research experience has primarily involved the development of novel sustainable low carbon technology for the reduction of emissions.
I am currently working on the scale up of a novel chemical looping process for the demonstration of low carbon hydrogen production as part of the MatCoRE group (led by Ian Metcalfe).
