Prior to joining the University I worked in business development, consultancy, and R&D in the advanced materials, cleantech, and energy sectors with a focus on Japanese markets and technologies.

• Osaka Gas: R&D in Japan, and international marketing and technology commercialisation  for advanced carbon materials used in aerospace, battery materials, chemical & process industry, energy storage, environmental, and low carbon vehicle applications.
• R&D in high pressure gas storage and separation; high temperature - high pressure hydrogenation  
• Europe – Japan Centre: market research, training, and innovation consultancy
• UK SMEs: business development director roles for engineered components and simulation software for the oil & gas, petrochemical, power, nuclear, and renewable energy  industries in Asia Pacific and the Middle East
